Tampa, Florida — Police want your help finding four men who teamed up to beat a young U.S. Army soldier in a South Tampa street.

It was an awful welcome to Tampa Bay for a young soldier. Police say the victim of a violent beating caught on camera is 24 years old and has lived in Tampa for less than a month.

He’s a U.S. Army soldier assigned to MacDill Air Force Base and lives not far from the base at Dale Mabry Hwy. and Interbay Blvd.

Police say Sunday morning, at around 3 a.m., the soldier’s car broke down a few miles from home along Westshore Blvd.

The attack came when he was walking home and using Iowa St. to get from Westshore to Dale Mabry. At the intersection of Iowa and Renellie Dr., the man came into the view of a neighbor’s motion-activated security camera.

A group of three young men is seen walking ahead of the soldier. Police say one of the men in the group doubled back and asked to soldier to borrow a dollar. When the soldier reached for his wallet, the first punch flew.

The first, tremendous sucker punch laid the victim onto the ground. The other two men joined in, punching and kicking the soldier.

A fourth man comes sprinting into view from the left edge of the video. The new attacker — a man the soldier said he had walked past earlier — joined in the beating.

Tampa Police officers say the crooks stole the soldier’s wallet and cell phone, then took off south on Renellie Dr. When he eventually got to his feet, the victim had to knock on doors to find someone to help him call 911.

The soldier was taken to Tampa General Hospital with cuts and bruises on his face and head. Police say he is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say they haven’t gotten many useful details about the suspects from the video.

The victim was not able to tell police much more: they’re all in their late teens to early 20′s. Two were black men with an average build, police said. One attacker was possibly Hispanic, also with an average build. The fourth man was also black, but with a heavier build.

Police are hoping someone knows about this brutal beating and will call Tampa Police at 813-354-6600 to help them find the attackers. Read more at WTSP.com

On every indicator but one, blue states have done worse, on average, than red states.

In addition, IBD looked at the economic performance of 11 states that Real Clear Politics lists as tossups for the 2012 presidential election. Many of these purple battleground states have fared far worse than the country as a whole during the past three years.

Among the findings:

Job growth: The average increase for blue states was just 1.2% from June 2009 — the official start of the economic recovery — to March 2012. For red states, it was 1.9%. The national average was 1.8%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Unemployment: The jobless rate in March was 8.5% in blue states and 7.4% in red states, BLS data show.

Income: Blue states also did a bit worse when it came to per cap ita personal pay, rising 4.27% in 2011 compared with 4.35% in red states, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis data

GDP: The one measure where blue states outperformed was in gross domestic product growth, clocking an average 2.5% increase from 2009 to 2010 vs. red states’ 2.2%. State GDP figures for 2011 won’t come out until June.

Home prices: People living in liberal areas suffered the most when it came to housing prices. Over the past year, the housing price index fell 3.5% in blue states. The index edged up by 0.03% in conservative states. Nationwide, it was down 2.4%, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s House Price Index. Over the past five years, housing prices in red states fell 7.5%, but by 18.5% in blue states.

Gas prices: Blue states also suffer when it comes to gasoline. All but one of the 10 most expensive gas states voted for Obama in 2008. In contrast, all but one of the 10 cheapest gas states voted for McCain, according to gasoline price data from the AAA’s fuel gauge report. On average, blue state prices were 5% higher than those in red states.

Piers Morgan had Jonah Goldberg back on his show after his ridiculous attempt to catch him in a contradiction on his new book, “The Tyranny of Cliches.“

Piers made the following comment early on:

“There was an assumpation made by you and your army of supporters online, which becomes like a kind of like a new invading twitter facebook online Roman army, crashing towards me…”

Poor little Piers got intimidated by people on Twitter and Facebook.

The interaction here is much more interested than in the previous video, where Piers Morgan comes off like an arrogant dimwit in an obsessive mission to paint Jonah as using cliches himself.

The host does a much better job of actually engaging Jonah about his book, even though his callers are oddly turgid in their insistence on proving Jonah’s point by spewing forth mindless leftist cliches.

Late Thursday night, the Barret campaign released this video with Scott Walker saying he will use a “Divide and Conquer” strategy on Unions:

Talking Points Memo relates what they think is damaging about the video:

Walker has denied allegations that he would make Wisconsin a right-to-work state — for example, this past January his office reiterated to the Journal Sentinel that Walker would not be introducing such legislation.

In response to the new video, Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews again told the paper: “Governor Walker has made clear repeatedly that he does not have an interest in pushing right-to-work legislation.”

But if this is such a damaging video, why would Walker have allowed anyone to videotape him saying such comments at all?

Also, why the quick edit away from Walker’s comments? It’s be interesting to see the full edit of the video.
