This is a great ad by Thomas Peterffy, billionaire migrant from Hungary about the ills of Socialism and the true hope in America:

From Yahoo News:

Billionaire Thomas Peterffy is perhaps best known as the founder of electronic stock trading firm Interactive Brokers, but the Hungarian-born American entrepreneur also grew up in the shadow of socialism and is not excited about what he sees happening here in the U.S. On Wednesday he began airing his own, privately financed one-minute ad addressing his concerns about the U.S. election and urging viewers to vote Republican.

“I grew up in a socialist country and I have seen what that does to people,” Peterffy, who is believed to be worth as much as $5 billion, says in the ad. “There is no hope, no freedom, no pride in achievement. The nation became poorer and poorer, and that’s what I see happening here.” … “America’s wealth comes from the efforts of people striving for success. Take away their incentive with badmouthing success and you take away the wealth that helps us take care of the needy.”

According to CNN, Peterffy’s spots will run through Election Day on November 6 and he’s expecting to spend $5-$10 million total on the ad buy depending how well it performs. Swing states like Ohio, Wisconsin and Colorado will be the focus.

I hope it makes a difference…

Love the ad. I hope it can swing some people. I have just about lost all hope for this country when today someone tried to argue that it is a fundamental human right to have a job.

This was a comment on a story about a business owner saying he will have to lay off some of his 7k employees if there is 4 more years of the current administration.

LOVE the ad and your investment in American. Playing on CNBC is good- How can anyone be undecided at this point is beyond me. You make me proud to have hungarian ancestors! I hope they hear you loud and clear- our current class war is a road to disaster.

The USA is certainly not going to become a socialist country under President Obama or any other politician. The government will not control the means of production or any businesses. We do run a health care system for our military but that is not socialism. You may have grown up with the evils of a devastated post-WWII economy and you regret that your people did not have enough gumption to work to restore their country without being bribed. What you are missing is an experience living in a plutocracy. The rich get richer and more powerful, everyone else is left to sink into poverty. This country has had that experience from the Civil War to the 1930s. The right-wing forgets this hard lesson – at their own peril. You are not the person to speak to America about economic control systems. Your experience is not an American experience, the Hungarians are not Americans. You have no experience with equates to that of America. You need to study our history first and not just try to conflate your un-American experience with our republic.

Phyllis, this man made billions while living in America probably longer than your whole life span (judging by your photo). So, he has both experiences: of socialist misery and capitalist prosperity. The one who does not know what she is talking about is you since you did not learn the history of Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Castro, etc. ascent to power. Their way has striking similarities to everything what Obama is doing – straight from Karl Marx teachings which I was forced to study from the age of five in the Soviet kindergarten. The result will also be the same as with all tyrannical regimes: piles of corpses and decades of deprivation. That, If we allow him the second term. We will not!
