Eric Holder’s “Constitutional Crisis” Threat Confirmed in Executive Privilege

Today Obama claimed executive privilege to keep documents secret in the congressional probe of the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal.

Is this what Eric Holder meant by his threat of Constitutional Crisis?

If so, then by their own admission, Obama and the Department of Justice is admitting that they are caught in a corner and the only way out is putting the Constitution in peril. Of course, they’ll blame the Republicans for daring to ask questions in the bungling of a program that resulted in the deaths of 300 Mexican nationals and an American border agent.

If it’s the case that these hearings put our Constitutional political compact into peril, just what mechanism is there to investigate the appearance of misconduct by the President and his administration?

UPDATE:
Of course, when the Bush administration was being investigated, Obama had a very strict view of when it was appropriate to use executive privilege:

Candidate Obama:

Y’know, there’s been a tendency on the part of this administration, uh, tuh, to hide behind executive privilege, every time, uh, there’s something a little, uh, shaky that’s taken place. And I think y’know the administration would be best served by coming clean on this, there doesn’t seem to be any national security issues involved with the US Attorney uh uh uh question….

I think the American people deserve to know what was going on there.

I guess “something a little shaky” doesn’t include 300 dead people?
